Jack and Essex Home Improvements did what so many other contractors fail to do- be responsive, accountable, and deliver an agreed upon service without drama. From my first call to the last, Jack was responsive, polite, and kept his promises for dates and details, and also kept me informed at all stages. His crew did a fine job, and I’m extremely pleased with the result. It was great to get something done without being aggravated and unhappy, and having yet another contractor “war story” to share. I have only positive things to say about Jack and Essex Home Improvements. Jack is the rare contractor who answers every phone call, checks in, keeps you up to date on status, and follows up on all of his promises. From the first day we met Jack he was open and honest with us and worked with us to complete our siding project the way we wanted it done. His crew was professional and courteous throughout the project and worked with us to make any minor changes as they completed the work. Also, from a pricing standpoint, Jack was in line with all of the other quotes we received and came in right on budget. Overall, I would highly recommend Jack for any project and would use him on any of my future projects.

Essex Home Improvements are a great contractor. Mark came out and did a thorough inspection of my roof and gutters before giving an estimate. Out of the half dozen estimates I got for the job, his was the most straight forward and comprehensive. The crew did excellent work and kept my property clean during the two days they were there. My roof looks awesome and my gutters finally work as designed. Mark kept good communication the entire time from estimate to completion of job. I have already recommended Essex Home Improvements to my family/friends and will continue to recommend.

We had 5 or six different companies give us estimates and although Essex wasn’t the cheapest they did give the best value for the job and installation. I don’t believe you can go wrong with them.

After interviewing numerous contractors in Essex County and not finding one we felt comfortable with I used Service Magic and was put in contact Essex Home Improvement. No sooner had I hit the enter button then Jack called me. We scheduled a meeting where he showed up exactly on time. We discussed the project and immediately he provided me a bid. His team started 4 days before the projected date . The team working on my house became like family. When I pulled in every night, they knew it was quitting time. The way they left my property you would never know there was work being done. Excellent end product. I can’t wait to use them again!!

After careful review of the estimates received for our project we decided to work with Essex for their knowledge and easy communication throughout the process. The work was completed in approximately 1.5 days and performed very professionally, safely and with care to the adjacent properties. We were impressed with the attention to detail and the little things done right that will make a difference later (flashing, crickets, etc…). At the end of the project we were able to review the work with Essex. Anything pointed out was minor and quickly taken care of. The job turned out great and worth the investment. Thank you Essex!

Amazing customer service. They called me within 30 minutes of submitting my request (at 10 at night!), came out and gave a detailed quote, explained problems with the existing roof, applied waterproofing and tarp to prevent further leaking until insurance inspection was done, and on installation, were efficient and cleaned up very well both on the day of installation, and the day after as they swept the yard twice for nails and raked for any small bits that got missed. Roof has lifetime materials and 10 year labor warranty – USE THESE GUYS they know what they are doing and they do it well.

It was important that we hire a company we felt comfortable with, and Jack was available to us before, during & after the process to address our questions and concerns. We can’t stand hard sales, scare tactics, or “bait & switch” maneuvers, so we really appreciated that Jack was reliable, friendly, and honest. His crew showed up & finished on time, and did a beautiful job on our roof, chimney, soffits, fascia & gutter replacement. We also had 7 vinyl windows installed that look great. We wouldn’t hesitate to hire them again, and in fact plan on doing so later this year.

Essex Home Improvements was the only roofing estimate that I had received which offered me options on how to address the leaks in my home. Every other estimate insisted that I had to spend 10-12k dollars on a new roof and any repair was impossible. Essex also gave me an estimate for a new roof, but a much more cost effective repair option which was 15% the cost of a new roof. Like most homeowners, I don’t have a surplus of money laying around and the repair option was by far the best and only option. They were always on time, prompt in their service, very polite, and returned to my home twice, in person no less, to make sure everything was alright. Furthermore, they told me to call them if I saw any water in the future and they would come check it out. With Essex Home Improvements, the service doesn’t stop when you hand them a check. Jack was honest and all business. He was the only roofer to go up on the roof before quoting the project. He told me exactly what was good and what needed to be replaced. He never bugged me with follow-up phone calls. He was completely receptive to any concerns and changes I periodically presented. Come the job day, his men were fast, efficient, and remarkably neat. They managed to rip off the old roof, extend my overhangs, add new vent pipes, install a new ridge vent, AND put on a whole new roof in ONE day…despite the occasional downpour. My lawn was left in an immaculate state and my house has been the talk of the town.

Jack DeRosa was responsive, timely, and professional during the project. He was the only contractor, among many estimates I obtained, who mentioned and had drawings made for the project. I am amazed at how quickly and entire new roof, including reframing, can be accomplished. I would recommend Essex Home Improvements to anyone.

I had a very pleasant experience with Jack, Mark and his crew of merry men who performed my roofing job. If I had an issue, concern or problem – I called – Jack answered.. I really felt that Jack takes pride in the work he provides and wants it done to my satisfaction as well as his own. This in turn has made me feel good about the fact that if I ever do have a problem – Jack will be there to help. Essex Home Improvements replaced my entire roof for my colonial home. Worked performed was removal of old material, installed plywood and shingles (to be brief). Also, the house did not have soffet ventilation for the main and porch roof. They installed that as well. A 10 man crew started at 8AM and the job was done no later than 7PM the same day. I’m impressed and very happy with my new roof. Class A work.

I would highly recommend this contractor. My first impression was one of honesty- he was the first contractor that did not recommend replacing the roof right away and tried to save the current roof. Being that the roof had to be replaced anyway due to severe/sudden damage, Essex Home Improvements did a wonderful, fast job of replacing the roof. Workers also made sure the property was clean after the job.

Essex was hired to replace 2 old layers of asphalt shingling over original cedar shakes on my 1935 Colonial. Right from the get go, I received immediate response from Jack, who was always reachable. I interviewed over 7 roofers and Jack was one of two roofers who actually took the time to get up on the roof to inspect it as well as the attic. He was very knowledgeable, amiable, and described in detail what would be done, making crucial suggestions that no one else did. His pricing was also competitive. He stopped by my home many times before, during, and after the process to oversee the progress and make sure I was happy with the results.

Jack’s team did a great job with our exterior siding. Jack also helped to connect us with general contractors for a kitchen upgrade we did at the same time (with Jack often coordinating the work). Overall we are thrilled with the quality of both jobs. Importantly, I didn’t feel like we were nickel and dimmed to death once we put terms on paper. Some extras came up and cost money, some were included. Only criticism: could have been a bit more cautious about my patio when they set up the siding job. Left a few marks behind on some stone that I paid a good deal of money for, but they went above and beyond the call of duty in all other areas

Essex did an excellent job on our roof, gutters, and siding. The work began one week after the estimate meeting and all the work was completed a week and a half from that meeting – that is definitely fast and efficient. We were well-informed of all the work that would be done and when additional work had to be completed after issues were found with our existing roof, they were clearly explained. Aside from the excellent work, Jack and Mark were nice, honest people. Dealing with them was a pleasure. We highly recommend Essex and will continue to have them as our sole contractor for any future work we will have done on our house.

It was a pleasure working with Essex Home Improvements. I am always leery of working with contractors as I have been burned in the past a couple of times. Jack Derosa of Essex Home Improvements immediately put me at ease–he offered a thorough exam of what needed to be done. His contract was clear and easily understood. His workers arrived on time and did everything they said they would do. My property and most importantly that of the neighbors was kept clean while work progressed. Jack was on site several times to make sure there would be no problems and to answer any questions. I would highly recommend Essex Home Improvements. Jack’s excellent work on installing a new roof on my home has opened up in my mind other home improvement jobs that I would like to hire Essex for. They are an upfront, honest and diligent company that is a pleasure to do business with–and a rarity in today’s world.

What a pleasure! Not only did Essex home improvements do a professionally phenomenal job of replacing the siding on my house, but they were unbelievably personable in dealing with myself and my neighbors. Each day I came home from work my neighbors were eagerly awaiting to tell me how professional, pleasant and courteous, not only jack from Essex home, but his entire team working on my home were! As I didn’t have much time to spend on personal involvement on the project once it began, it was quite a relief to know it was in such good hands. All I can add is Essex home gave me great advice when I asked, and great execution when I didn’t.
